Arul: Where are the 1MDB critics?

BALIK PULAU: 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy is upset that no leaders from the opposition attended the townhall session, despite it being held in Penang, a DAP stronghold.
Speaking to the crowd of over 200 on 1MDB issues in Politeknik Balik Pulau, he was surprised that opposition leaders had not attended the session, although they had been critical of the investment arm.
He was also disappointed that that they didn't turn up at previous similar sessions held in opposition strongholds, such as in Subang Jaya and Shah Alam.
It was not that the leaders were not invited, he added.
"It is very clear that they don't want to know, and learn," Arul told the audience present during the dialogue session at the polytechnic auditorium.
Arul said the staunchest critics who had made scathing attacks against 1MDB also did not show, specifically Rafizi Ramli and Tony Pua.
On claims that he is a tool of Barisan Nasional (BN), Arul brushed it off and said he was a only a spokesman of the fully government-owned company.
He said he has attended several sessions nationwide to explain to the public, address doubts and confusion over the issue.
"We need to explain as we are responsible to the people," he added.
On calls by certain quarters for Jho Low to be brought back to address the issue, Arul said he did not contact him and they had lost touch since their last encounter in 2011.
Also present were Balik Pulau incumbent Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya and Finance Ministry strategic communications director Datuk Lokman Noor Adam.
