Cabinet posts for DAP members just a recommendation

MUAR: "It was just a recommendation."
That was what DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng had to say about the three DAP names he proposed for cabinet positions should the opposition coalition win federal power in the elections.
"I was just making a recommendation. That's all. It's only a recommendation," he told reporters when asked to comment on the matter.
Lim, who is also caretaker Penang Chief Minister, said this after attending a Pakatan Harapan (PH) programme "A Session with Lim Guan Eng" at the Yong Sheng Banquet Hall, here today.
The DAP-man came under heavy criticism from Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders after he announced in recent weeks that its Johor chairman Liew Chin Tong, Perak chairman Nga Kor Ming and Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, would be offered ministerial positions if they were to win their respective seats.
Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had previously said that the power to determine candidates for ministers lay with the Prime Minister, and questioned why Lim had made the announcement instead of PH prime ministerial candidate Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein echoed Najib's sentiment, adding that it showed Lim was "arrogant and disrespectful" to Mahathir for announcing the names.
PH vice-president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, on May 1, also said there were no discussions among coalition members on DAP's proposed names, saying it was too early to discuss the matter.
Previously on April 21, Lim had said that there was nothing wrong in offering the candidates positions in the cabinet as they were going against federal ministers.
Nga will be facing Gerakan's Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong (caretaker Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities) for the Teluk Intan seat, while Liew will face MCA's Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong (Minister in the Prime Minister's Department) for the Ayer Hitam seat.
Only Chong will face a non-minister, as he will go head against Sarawak United People's Party president Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, also a big name, in Stampin.
