SUNGAI SIPUT: Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak announced several "gifts" for the people of Sungai Siput if BN wins the parliament seat, which has been held by the opposition for two terms.
"The Sekolah Menengah Orang Asli in Lasah will be upgraded as the first Orang Asli boarding school in the country.
"A religious boarding school will be built in Lintang and the Indian community will get a new school – SJKT Ladang Changkat Salak.
"A total of 500 units of houses under the People's Housing Project (PPR) will also be built," he said in his speech at the Hebatkan Negaraku gathering, here today.

Also present were caretaker Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and Sungai Siput parliament seat candidate Datuk Seri S. K. Devamany.
Lintang state seat incumbent Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun and Datuk Tan Lian Hoe, who is contesting the Jalong state seat were also present.
"I will be announcing the other gifts after after May 9," he told the crowd.
"We will together make changes to Sungai Siput, we need the power of politics and Putrajaya must belong to BN.
"Perak must belong to BN and this will bring our strength, Sungai Siput has been neglected ... what has the MP done," he added.
In GE13, Devamany lost the parliamentary seat with a majority of 2,793 votes in a three-cornered fight against Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj, who contested under the PKR ticket, and independent candidate S. Nagalingam.
Meanwhile, Najib said the BR1M payout is among the initiatives introduced by the government to ease the financial burden of the rakyat and should not be described as an insult to the poor.
"The government wants to help the poor ... rich people like Mokhzani (Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir), he is already rich, he has sport cars and a private jet. What do you have?
"Only the BN government can help you ... it is not an insult to the poor.
"We assist the poor so that they can be successful," he added.
