KUALA LUMPUR: The police recovered 96.7kg of methamphetamine drug, worth RM4.8 million, following the arrest of four members of the "Ah Tee Jinjang" group, comprising three men and a woman, at a hotel in Jalan Pasar Baru here last Wednesday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the drug was recovered at a house in Taman Bukit Idaman, Batu Caves, last Thursday.
He said the drug was found in a hidden compartment behind a concrete wall at the rented house, which was raided by the police last March 30 on suspicion of being used as a drug processing laboratory.
"Police broke down the wall and found the drug. Prior to that, sniffer dogs were used, but did not detect the drug," he told a media conference at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters here.
According to Mazlan, the four suspects, aged between 36 and 53 and all tested positive for drug, were now in remand for investigation under Section 39B of the dangerous Drugs Act, which provides the death sentence upon conviction. — Bernama
