KUALA LUMPUR: The government provides subsidy of RM129,200 for the construction of each unit under the Sentul Murni People's Housing Programme (PPR) here, according to National Housing Department director-general N. Jayaselan.
He said the cost of building each house in the Sentul Murni PPR, including land cost and infrastructure, was RM164,200 and the houses were sold for RM35,000 per unit.
"Those offered houses at Sentul Murni PPR are only required to pay monthly instalment as low as RM255 a month, including RM50 for maintenance fee, for 25 years before they get ownership of the houses under the rent-to-own concept," he said.
Jayaselan said this in his speech at the presentation of Sentul Murni PPR offer letters to 340 first generation residents of Kampung Chubadak, Sentul, here today.
The Sentul Murni PPR involves the construction of a 25 storey building of flat homes, involving 500 units, each with a floor area of 700 sq ft with three bedrooms and two toilets.
The remaining 160 houses will be offered to the second generation residents in the village.
Meanwhile, Batu Umno division leader Datuk Yahya Mat Ghani, in his speech, said the Sentul Murni PPR was proof that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government kept its promise to provide opportunities for residents of Kampung Chubadak to have their own home.
BN candidate for the Wangsa Maju parliamentary seat, Yeow Teong Look, promised to get the government to build more affordable homes or Rumawip in the constituency if BN wins the general election. — Bernama
