Mahathir packs them in Pokok Sena despite thunderstorm

POKOK SENA: A thunderstorm failed to deter 500 villagers in Kampung Bukit near here from turning up at a ceramah to catch a glimpse of Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Located in the remote areas of Bukit Lada, one of the state constituencies in the Pokok Sena parliamentary seat, it was an impressive turnout as the former prime minister took his GE14 campaign to his home state.

Although he was 30 minutes late, villagers from as far as neighbouring Padang Terap and Jitra braved the rain to see and listen to the 93-year-old statesman.
Villagers, young and old, were at the market place where the meeting was held from as early as 4pm where tents were erected and chairs provided for the event.
At about 5.30pm, it started to pour and the crowd rushed to the tents for cover from the rain and lightning.
The rain began to subside as Mahathir and his entourage arrived at about 6pm. They were greeted by chants of "Hidup Tun".
Mahathir was accompanied by his wife Tun Siti Hasmah Ali, Pokok Sena parliamentary candidate, Derga state seat candidate and several other PH candidates from the Pokok Sena constituency as well as the state PH leadership.
He said unlike DAP, MCA was purely a genuine Chinese party who spoke Chinese during their meetings and sang a Chinese party song.
"DAP is not like that, they have to used Malay during their meetings and sang their party songs in the national language," he said to the rapturous audiences during the event.
