Unbelievable comfort

SIXTY YEARS ago, in 1958, Hush Puppies introduced a casual suede shoe that revolutionised how we wear our shoes, thus the impact created continues to shape the global casual footwear industry until today.
In celebration of its 60th anniversary, the American brand held a four-day special exhibition and art festival at 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
The “Hush Puppies Exhibition & Art Festival Thru the Decades” presented its “Decades Collection” - a limited-edition footwear collection of six designs for the modern man, inspired by the fashion and pop culture of each subsequent decade from the founding of Hush Puppies in 1958 until the 2000s.
During the grand occasion, each of the shoes was represented by one of Malaysia’s quintessential, modern man; namely, Peter Davis, Nazim Othman, Mas Khan, Arja Lee, Ebeden Mung and Lucas Lau.
To mention a few, these shoes are imbued with the fun and carefree spirit of casual that is undeniably Hush Puppies.
Such as the classic Bernard 70s Slip-On represented by Mas Khan; crafted in sleek suede, patchwork pattern with hanging tassels.
Representing the bold Bernard 80s Oxford is Arja Lee. The iconic Pop Art-inspired print is seen along the toe, while edgy studs make an appearance on the heel cap.
The iconic 1990s looks are alive and well. Represented by Ebeden Mung, the Bernard 90s Chukka celebrates the fearless grunge movement, featuring stud detailing along the seams and contrast laces.
Last but not least, the Shiba Brogue Oxford under the Hush Puppies Icon58 Collection represented by Andre Amir is the ultimate iconic style of 2018. The footwear for the modern man combines innovative designs with an unparalleled comfort that reflects today’s casual style.
Managing director of Hush Puppies Malaysia, Chew Soo San, said: “We are proud to announce a special collaboration with six talented local artists that will individually create their own interpretation of each decade through the life-sized Hush Puppies sculpture.”
As part of the brand’s initiative project, the art pieces will eventually be auctioned off, where all proceeds from the sale will be donated to SPCA and Yayasan Chow Kit.
The limited-edition “Decades Collection” is available in selected Hush Puppies stores including 1 Utama, Pavilion KL, Johor Bahru City Square and Gurney Paragon in Penang.
