15,000 policemen to be deployed in S'gor on polling day

SHAH ALAM: Some 15,000 police personnel will be deployed on polling day tomorrow in Selangor.
Selangor GE14 spokesperson, ACP Nordin Manan (pix) said, of the amount, 13,695 policemen are from within Selangor, and another 1,124 policemen will be roped in from other states.
"The police are prepared for any untoward incidents ... of course we are hoping for a smooth day. Ensuring public order is our priority," he told a media conference at a GE14 briefing at the Selangor police headquarters here today.
Nordin also reminded those involved with election campaigning to adhere to the rules and that campaigning period ends at midnight.
The state police have received 144 police reports during the campaigning period, with 53 investigation papers opened so far.
Of those, 53 Investigation Papers (IP) have been opened so far and mostly were for causing mischief, under Section of 427 of the Penal Code.
He added that there be no road closures at the polling stations, only road diversions if the situation requires.
"They are advised to leave the polling centres right after voting to avoid causing congestion in the respective areas," he added.
As of today, there have been 1,878 political speeches conducted by candidates from various political parties within Selangor.
