KUALA LUMPUR: A prudent approach and explanations not influenced by speculations have helped make a success of the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) information sessions, according to 1MDB president and chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
He said the information sessions had so far achieved their objective and were being increasingly accepted by the people.
He said Malaysians were just seeking clarifications and explanations based on facts, not speculations or emotion-influenced answers.
"It's normal that at the beginning of the sessions, the atmosphere is quite tense due to the hot topic being raised.
"But at the end of the sessions, like today, we can see the support from the audience. We were also exchanging telephone numbers," he told reporters after an explanation session on 1MDB 'Anda Tanya Kami Jawab' (You Ask, We Answer) at Taman Lucky Bangsar here last night.
To date, Arul Kanda said, a total of 30 1MDB information sessions had been held throughout the peninsula which had received good feedback from the people.
The issues raised at last night's session included on the report on the company's audited accounts and when would it be released.
Arul Kanda calmly explained that there was no time frame set for the report to be released.
"The police have agreed for our auditor, Parker Randall, to access those related-records and documents for the audit process purposes.
"As a result of that, the auditor is starting to do it now and since this is not a normal auditing process, they are not able to give us the specific time frame when it is going to be released," he said.
He, however, said that the auditor had been told to allocate the right resources to complete the auditing process as soon as possible. — Bernama
