SEGAMAT: A live streaming scheduled to be aired nationwide by Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad tonight is a last minute attempt by the opposition to defame the government, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stressed.
Stating this, Zahid cautioned Malaysians not to be swayed by such tactics by the opposition, which he described as a “surprise last-minute attack”.
He said the opposition coalition would surely come out with the surprise attack at the eleventh hour of the campaigning period before polling day tomorrow.
“I can see that in the remaining time (of the campaigning period), there will be a surprise last-minute attack. There will,” he said.
“I am not surprised if our candidates are hit by such attacks. Even prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak) could be a victim at the last minute.
“Mahathir will be having a live streaming from Langkawi to spread lies for the last time,” he said in his speech during a friendly session with the locals at Taman Yayasan here.
Mahathir, who is the opposition’s prime minister-designate, will be making a speech at Dewan Ho Peng in Langkawi that will be live-streamed on social media at 10pm.
At the same time, Najib will address the nation in a speech that will be aired live on TV3, TV2, Astro Awani, HyppTV and Bernama TV.
Ahmad Zahid said the last-minute attack by the opposition was a desperate attempt due to the good performance shown by Barisan Nasional in its governance.
He also reminded the party machinery to be prepared and come out with a preemptive strike against the opposition’s tactics.
In his message to the people of Johor, Ahmad Zahid reminded voters to not allow the state to receive the same fate as Kelantan, which is currently being held by opposition’s PAS.
“I hope what had happened to Kelantan will not happen to other states in Malaysia,” he added.
