Voting process went smoothly: IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: The 14th general election went on smoothly with no untoward incident, according to Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
He said police nationwide were on their toes in readiness for any eventuality affecting security.
"I hope when the Election Commission announced the outcome of GE14, voters would accept with an open heart.
"I don't want any parties to as if refuse to accept the decision made by the people and hope they will not prompt any provocation," he told a press conference after visiting the polling centre at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Bangsar here.
Mohamad Fuzi said more than 1,934 police reports had been lodged nationwide in connection with GE14.
Meanwhile, Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abdullah went in an Augusta helicopter owned by Royal Malaysia Police's Air Operation Force for a wider view of the voting process.
The aerial monitoring began in the morning from the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) here to Kuala Selangor and proceeded to Bagan Datuk, Perak and Batu Pahat, Johor, and back to PULAPOL in the afternoon.
A total of 79,000 police officers and personnel from various departments and units and 10,939 auxiliary policemen have been assigned to 13 contingents nationwide to control security. — Bernama
