JOHOR BARU: The defeat of Barisan Nasional in the 14th general election is a lesson and wake up call to party leaders.
Having said so, Johor Umno Information chief Datuk Samsolbari Jamali opined that the people were more inclined to choose representatives based on national rather than state issues, "despite all that BN had done for Johor".
The Umno Ayer Hitam division chief also believed the people wanted to give Pakatan Harapan an opportunity to govern the state and country.
"People always say why not try this time and after five years we will decide whether it had brought good or otherwise," he told a media conference here today.
Meanwhile, Umno Pontian division chief Datuk Hasni Mohammad who successfully defended his Benut state seat said BN and Umno lost because they concentrated too much on the party machinery prior to and during the campaign instead of going to the ground to meet with grassroots voters. — Bernama
