Adly Zahari of Pakatan Harapan new Malacca CM

MALACCA: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Malacca chairman Adly Zahari was sworn in today as the Chief Minister of Malacca.
Adly, 47, the Amanah assemblyman for Bukit Katil, took the oath of office and loyalty before Malacca Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Dr Mohd Khalil Yaakob at Dewan Seri Utama, Seri Negri, in Ayer Keroh here at 3.50pm.
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and former Malacca chief ministers Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam and Datuk Idris Haron also attended the ceremony.
Others present included Hang Tuah Jaya MP and PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin; Bandar Hilir state assemblyman and Malacca DAP chairman Tey Kok Kiew and Alor Gajah MP and PPBM Supreme Council member Mohd Redzuan Yusof.
PH won a simple majority in the Malacca legislative assembly when it captured 15 of the 28 state seats in the general election on May 9. PH also won four of the six parliamentary seats in the state, namely Alor Gajah, Tangga Batu, Hang Tuah Jaya and Kota Melaka.
In the three-cornered fight for the Bukit Katil seat, Adly beat Yunus Hitam of Barisan Nasional and Muhamat Puha Bedol of PAS to win with a majority of 3,159 votes. — Bernama
