ALOR STAR: Kedah Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir is expected to be sworn in as the new mentri besar later today.
Sources close to theSun said Kedah ruler Tunku Sallehuddin Almarhum Sultan Badlishah has consented to the appointment following a meeting with PH's elected representatives.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place at Istana Anak Bukit at 4pm.
There is also speculation that Umno's Sungai Tiang assemblyman Datuk Soraya Yaacob and Bandar Baharu assemblyman Datuk Nor Sabrina Mohd Noor have pledged allegiance to PH, enabling the coalition to form a state government.
The swearing-in ceremony of the mentri besar was expected to take place on Thursday, but was postponed as a result of the hung assembly.
Following the results of the 14th general election, PH won 18 of the 36 state seats, while PAS won 15 and Barisan Nasional only managed to retain three seats.
