KOTA KINABALU: The political situation in Sabah is getting more intense with two state assemblymen from the Barisan Nasional (BN) showing up at the residence of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
The duo – Sebatik assemblyman Datuk Abdul Muis Picho and Tanjung Batu assemblyman Datuk Hamisa Samat – arrived at Mohd Shafie's residence here at noon today before they left an hour later.
However, no statement was issued regarding the purpose of the meeting.
It is learnt that Abdul Muis and Hamisa went to the Istana Ngeri after meeting Mohd Shafie.
Yesterday, United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) acting president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau met Mohd Shafie at the latter's residence before calling for a press conference to announce Upko's decision to leave BN and form a coalition government with Warisan.
However, five Upko's assemblymen – Ewon Benedict (Kadamaian), Datuk Abidin Madingkir (Paginatan), Datuk Bobbey Ah Fan Suan (Nabawan), Datuk Masiung Banah (Kuamut) and Datuk Limus Jury (Kuala Penyu) – denied joining Warisan.
The GE14 in Sabah saw BN winning 29 state seats, Warisan (21), DAP (six) and PKR (two) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku or Star (two). — Bernama
