Govt to review contracts not in favour of Malaysia: Lim

PETALING JAYA: All contracts that are not in favour or do not benefit Malaysia will be reviewed, according to newly-appointed Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Lim said his main focus would be helping on Malaysians and ensuring that their rights, job opportunities and businesses were protected.
"That would be the main consideration. The focus would still be helping those who find it very hard to make ends meet and how to make their life a bit easier," he told a press conference after Pakatan Harapan's (PH) meeting at Menara Yayasan Selangor, here today.
Lim said he would look in terms of abolishing the Goods and Services Tax (GST), maintaining 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) payments, and (subsidising) fuel prices.
On his appointment as the first Chinese to helm the Ministry of Finance after 44 years, Lim said: "I don't consider myself as a Chinese, I am Malaysian. I did not know it has been 44 years, thank you for counting for me." — Bernama
