Hisham accepts call for change

PETALING JAYA: Umno Vice-president Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein said he supports a change in the party's leadership following its defeat in the 14th General Election (GE14).
The former defence minister however reminded the people that the process of changing the party leadership must be done in an orderly manner.
"I agree with the opinion of members and the rakyat that Umno needs a new leadership and the changes must be done properly.
"The changes is vital so that the party can regain its honour and principle," he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, a group of Umno Youth members caused a commotion at the party's 72nd anniversary celebrations in Kuala Lumpu,r after they gathered to demand for Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and other key leaders to step down.
Najib, who attended the anniversary gathering, has kept mum on the leadership issue so far.
It is learnt that Najib and acting Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is chairing an Umno supreme council meeting at the Putra World Trade Centre today.
