PETALING JAYA: The Immigration Department have blacklisted former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor from leaving the country.
This was confirmed by the department via postings on Facebook and Twitter at about 11.30am.
Earlier, Immigration director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali had said that reports claiming that the former prime minister and his wife have been blacklisted were untrue.
Both Najib and Rosmah did not turn up at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, based on checks by theSun.
Last night, their flight itinerary to Indonesia was leaked out, resulting in a mob of people who had gathered at the airport in an attempt to stop the couple from leaving the country.
Members of the media had also gathered at the airport since 6am.
A Light Strike Force team was deployed at the airport to calm the situation.
Meanwhile, in response to the latest posting by the Immigration authorities, Najib via a Tweet confirmed that he and his family had been barred from leaving the country.
"I will respect the order from the department and my family and I will remain in the country," he tweeted.
