Theresa May congratulates Tun M

KUALA LUMPUR: United Kingdom's Prime Minister Theresa May (pix) has congratulated Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on his appointment as the Prime Minister.
May in the UK Prime Minister official Twitter posting said: "My congratulations to Dr Mahathir @chedetofficial on his election as Prime Minister of Malaysia.
"This is a historic result and I look forward to building on strong bilateral relationship," according to the post.
Dr Mahathir was sworn in as the seventh Prime Minister before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V, at Istana Negara on Thursday, following Pakatan Harapan's victory in the 14th general election.
Mahathir, who is also the Pakatan Harapan chairman, created history when he took the oath of office as the prime minister of Malaysia for the second time, at the age of 92.
Dr Mahathir first became the prime minister in 1981 at the age of 56, and was the country's fourth prime minister then. — Bernama
