KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu Menteri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar welcomes pointers from all parties to help him carry out his responsibilities.
The 15th Menteri Besar who begins his duties today said his responsibilities were not just for this life but also in the hereafter.
"I have mixed feelings, happy and excited to begin my task as Menteri Besar, but also scared I cannot perform it well because we have to answer in the afterlife," he said.
"If we do it well and properly, then follow us, but if we make mistakes, tell us so that we carry out our responsibilities properly.
"This is because what is most important is the people who will enjoy the state government's objectives," he told reporters after performing special prayers with staff of Wisma Darul Iman here today.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Samsuri said, the state government would continue to demand oil royalties from the federal government as it was crucial for its development.
He said PAS had long fought for it not just at the state level but also at the federal stage.
"The demand for oil royalty is an on-going commitment which must be fought for by the state government. The question of royalty is important to Terengganu. It is an on-going commitment by the PAS leadership at the state and national levels.
"We will continue doing it, but we must do it properly and we will hold further talks on it after this," he said.
On the appointment of state government officers, Ahmad Samsuri said this will be discussed after assessing the matter from all angles in terms of quality and need.
Meanwhile, the appointment of the exco members and establishment of the state government portfolios would be determined on Wednesday after obtaining the consent of the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin. — Bernama
