New CMs, MBs start work in Penang, Malacca, Negri Sembilan (Updated)

GEORGE TOWN: Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow was formally sworn in as the state's fifth chief minister here today.
In a brief but historic occasion, Chow, 58, took his oath before the Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Dr Abdul Rahman Abbas and pledged his commitment to safeguard state secrets.
The Kuala Lumpur-born Chow was a journalist before joining the socialist party in the 1980s. He was also a political secretary to DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang.
Chow will enjoy a strong majority in the 40-member state legislative assembly as the Pakatan Harapan state government has a two-third majority by grabbing 37 state seats.
It also holds 13 of the 15 parliament seats.
The full state executive councillors line-up is expected to be unveiled later this week.
Meanwhile, in Malacca, Adly Zahari reported for his first day as the new Malacca Chief Minister today at the Seri Negri Complex, Ayer Keroh here.
He clocked in at about 8.30am accompanied by the Malacca State Secretary, Datuk Roslan Ibrahim.
Adly then spent about 10 minutes to greet staff at the Chief Minister's Office before having a discussion with Roslan and other officers.
Adly is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Yang Dipertua Negri, Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakub this afternoon before holding a press conference, expected to be on the appointment of the Malacca state executive council.
Adly, who is also Pakatan Harapan Malacca chairman, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Malacca last Friday.
The Bukit Katil assemblyman takes over as the chief minister from Datuk Seri Idris Haron after the PH coalition won the 14th General Election (GE14) on May 9.
In Seremban, Aminuddin Harun, the state assemblyman for Sikamat, began his duties as the new Mentri Besar of Negri Sembilan.
Aminuddin, who is also Pakatan Harapan Negri Sembilan chairman, arrived at the Office of the Mentri Besar at Wisma Negri at 2.35pm and was welcomed by State Secretary Datuk Seri Mat Ali Hassan and heads of department at the State Secretariat.
Aminuddin then went to the fifth floor of the building to clock in, and then shook hands and chatted with the staff at the State Secretariat.
He then had discussions with Mat Ali on the rules and management of the state government at the Office of the Mentri Besar.
Aminuddin, who retained the Sikamat state seat for the third term, was sworn in as the Mentri Besar before Tuanku Muhriz at Istana Besar Seri Menanti in Kuala Pilah last Saturday.
