KLANG: The new Selangor state government executive council unveiled today saw the introduction of seven new faces into the 10-member exco.
The new line-up saw DAP's Datuk Teng Chang Kim and V. Ganabatirau as well as PKR's Amiruddin Shari as the only excos from the previous government to retain their positions in the state's administrative council.
The seven new faces comprised three from PKR, two from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and one each from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and DAP.
They were Haniza Mohamed Talha, Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin and Hee Loy Sian from PKR, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud and Izham Hashim from Amanah, Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari from PPBM and Ng Sze Han from DAP.
PH representatives from the previous government that were not reappointed were Elizabeth Wong, Dr Daroyah Alwi, Ean Yong Hian Wah and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
All of them were re-elected into the state assembly in GE14, with the exception for Nil Nazmi who had vacated his Seri Setia state seat for Setiawangsa parliamentary seat.
The recently concluded GE14 saw PH consolidate its grip on Selangor, winning 51 out of 56 state seats available.
The election also saw PAS, which was represented in the previous Selangor exco, being nearly wiped out from the state's political scene.
Only Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi escaped unscathed when he managed to hold on to his Sijangkang seat.
The new exco members took their oath of office before the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in a ceremony held at Istana Alam Shah here.
The ceremony held at the palace's Balairung Seri was also attended by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Also present was Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
No portfolios have been assigned yet to the respective excos at press time.
