Two reports lodged against Najib at MACC

PETALING JAYA: Two reports were lodged at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today.
A former high-ranking MACC officer Datuk Abdul Razak Idris lodged the report alleging that Najib had used his position for gratification and the other for allegedly owning unexplained properties.
The former MACC investigations and intelligence director alleged that Najib with the help of other civil servants had prevented the investigation into several cases.
He said based on the information he had received, the former prime minister had used his position to stop the investigations of the Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP) and 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
He said he was making the reports so that investigations on corruption cases, money laundering and such involving KWAP and 1MDB money could be reopened or continued.
Abdul Razak said he would hold a discussion with MACC officers as to whether he should lodge a police report under Section 217 and 218 of the Penal Code where certain public servants saved a person from punishment or property from forfeiture.
"The reason I am lodging the reports today is so that the MACC can take swift action," he said before entering the MACC Jalan Cochrane office to lodge his reports.
Abdul Razak said he decided to lodge a report now because it would have been of no use back then as no action would have been taken, adding that a "former boss" urged him to lodge the reports but he declined to name this person.
"Some are also worried about me for boldly coming out to lodge a report, "I'm already 69 years old. If I die, I die for the country," Abdul Razak said.
