IPOH: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has rejected Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi who was formerly from PKR.
Jamaluddin was one of the state assemblypersons who became Barisan Nasional-friendly independent candidates and caused the collapse of the then Pakatan Rakyat state government in 2009.
"The application by Jamaluddin had been rejected without any negotiation," Perak Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said in a statement read out by Perak PKR information chief Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail today.
"We arrived at the decision based on the Pakatan Harapan (PH) principle that all applications will undergo strict scrutiny so that the rakyat will not suffer like in the previous episode."
Jamaluddin was among 200 former Umno members who submitted their applications to join PPBM at a hotel here on Monday.
Among them were Sungai Manik assemblyman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin.
Ahmad Faizal, was present at the event, was only made aware of Jamaluddin's presence after the press conference.
DAP's Ipoh Timur MP Wong Kah Woh had spoken out against PPBM accepting Jamaluddin as a member. He said PPBM should not accept those who had betrayed the people's trust. "PH is not a rubbish bin," he said.
The other two who abandoned Pakatan Rakyat then were former Changkat Jering assemblyman Osman Jailu and Jelapang assemblywoman Datuk Hee Yit Foong.
