PASIR SALAK: Sungai Manik assemblyman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin, who jumped ship to Pakatan Harapan (PH), said he would not be disappointed if he was not appointed as a state executive councillor (exco).
The State Public Utilities, Infrastructure, Energy and Water Committee chairman in the previous state government said all decisions were entirely up to Perak Mentri Besar (MB) Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
"I leave it to the MB. I won't be disappointed if I am not appointed because I've never put this as a condition (to join PH).
"I give my support without any conditions. So I do not want certain parties to spread numerous allegations that I want posts," he told reporters at a "Hi-Tea" with the people of Sungai Manik in Langkap, here tonight.
Zainol Fadzi was commenting on Perak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) information chief Siti Aishah Shaik Ismail's statement that one of the exco seats would be allocated by the MB to one of two Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen who supported the formation of the PH government in the state.
In the meantime, Zainol Fadzi, who is into his third term as assemblyman for the constituency, said that the decision to leave Umno was made voluntarily and without compulsion or rewards.
He said the decision was taken after taking into account the majority opinion of the people including the voters and supporters in Sungai Manik.
"My decision (joining PH) is in the interest of the people. The people are bigger than the party. I see the people's rejection of BN and we must abide by the will of the people, no longer a question of party (affiliation)," he said. — Bernama
