Bursa Malaysia opens higher

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened higher today, but pared down some gains with the market undergoing a period of inflexion.
At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was almost flat at 1,848.21, up 0.01 of-a-point, from Tuesday's close of 1,848.2.
The index opened 3.63 points higher at 1,851.83.
"After navigating a potentially high-risk election, even investors are taking a well-deserved breather and have come out relatively unscathed from it," a dealer said.
He said the index resistance is set at 1,880, while supports level are at the 100-day moving average of 1,838.
Among heavyweights, Maybank lost four sen to RM10.76, TNB eased 12 sen to RM15.80 and CIMB slid one sen to RM6.74.
Public Bank bagged six sen to RM24.06 and Petronas Chemicals improved five sen to RM8.65.
For actives, Sapura Energy edged-up half-a-sen to 82 sen, UMW O&G gained two sen to 31.5 sen and Eastland added five sen to 23 sen.
Tiger Synergy slipped half-a-sen to 2.5 sen, while Advance Synergy was flat at 22.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index went up 18.32 points to 12,897.69, the FBMT 100 Index increased 12.21 points to 12,691.78, the FBM Emas Syariah Index improved 17.95 points to 13,058.49 and the FBM 70 jumped 56.39 points to 15,232.46.
The FBM Ace declined 2.39 points to 5,472.35.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Index increased 18.17 points to 3,303.63, while the Finance Index was 26.33 points lower at 18,176.13 and the Plantation Index eased 5.43 points to 7,982.78.
On the broader market, gainers led losers 158 to 110, while 146 counters were unchanged, 1,467 untraded and 19 others suspended.
Volume stood at 152.36 million units valued at RM64.09 million.
The physical price of gold as at 9.30am stood at RM159.08 per gramme, down RM2.12 from RM161.20 at 5pm yesterday. — Bernama
