MALACCA: The Malacca government under the Pakatan Harapan leadership will focus on foreign investments and tourism, the two main contributors that will spur the state economy.
Newly-appointed Mentri Besar, Adly Zahari said the government would review foreign investments in the state to ensure that it benefited the people and created jobs plus business opportunities.
Current tourism products and programmes would be improved while new ones would be introduced to attract visitors.
"The state administration has to face various challenges, including being responsible for creating a conducive economic environment, increasing competitiveness through public service efficiency, boosting investments and strengthening the state's socio-economy and politics," he said.
Adly said the state government would also pay special attention to ensuring people have sufficient income to accommodate basic necessities, sufficient education and address the people's concerns over social issues, among others.
"The state's executive council members must work together and execute their tasks with integrity in line with the state government's vision and direction," he told reporters after the swearing-in ceremony of state executive councillors at Dewan Sri Negri here today.
During the event, 10 members of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly also took their oath and their respective portfolios would be announced by Adly later today. — Bernama
