Missing activists allegedly abducted by Bukit Aman team

KUALA LUMPUR: Missing activist Amri Che Mat and Pastor Raymond Koh were allegedly abducted by a team from Bukit Aman.
Dropping a bombshell, Amri's wife Norhayati Mohd Ariffin today claimed that a police informer had revealed this on May 12 in the presence of her daughter.
"This police officer, who had asked not to be named, told us that he knew who had taken my husband Amri.
"This policeman alleged that my husband was taken by a team of policemen from Bukit Aman," she said in a statement.
In an immediate response, Bukit Aman corporate communications department head SAC Datuk Asmawati Ahmad confirmed a police report had been lodged on Amri's disappearance.
"A thorough investigation has been initiated and we urge the public not to speculate," Asmawati said.
Norhayati said the policeman had named a senior ranking officer Bukit Aman Special Branch's Social Extremism Division (E2) as the officer who headed that operation when Amri went missing on Nov 24, 2016.
"When I asked him why Amri was taken, he alleged it was because of 'Syiah' and 'Forex'," she said.
She also said the informer had told her Koh, missing since Feb 13, 2017 had been taken because he "allegedly proselytised Muslims".
Norhayati said she had lodged a police report on May 15 at the Shah Alam police headquarters on the matter.
She also said, according to the informer, a police team in Perlis, headed by an ASP from Special Branch had been conducting surveillance on Amri even before his disappearance and had sent this surveillance information to Bukit Aman Special Branch.
Koh was abducted on Feb 13 last year and was reportedly caught on a close-circuit television camera showing several men using black SUVs to block his car before allegedly abducting him.
Police had however denied responsibility for his disappearance, but arrested a 31-year-old and charged him with kidnapping Koh on Jan 15, bringing a public inquiry by the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) to an immediate halt.
