Rafizi thanks Invoke volunteers

PETALING JAYA: Invoke founder Mohd Rafizi Ramli thanked all its volunteers for their hard work and sacrifices in contributing towards the historic success of Pakatan Harapan in the 14th General Election (GE14).
Rafizi gave special mention to Malaysian youths in the 23 to 27 age group, who "quit their jobs to join me at Invoke since August 2016 to complete this mission".
It took 40,949 Invoke volunteers nationwide to collate figures on GE14.
He added the volunteers clocked 25,612 man-hours from the time they started tracking the hours in March last year.
The main tasks of the volunteers were campaigning, training of polling and counting agents (PACA), calling identified fence-sitters to persuade them to vote for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and canvassing door-to-door for support.
"Out of these, 25,915 volunteers offered services PACAs nationwide. While our records only tracked 5,844 PACAs who signed up through our online system, we believe many others went directly to candidates and served as PACA," he said, adding that the public had contributed RM10.2 million to Invoke over the last two years.
"The majority of this was through crowdfunding (RM7.3 million), but we also collected RM1.9 million from ticket sales for our fundraising events and RM1.0 million from sales of merchandise (T-shirts and books). I also contributed RM1 million from my own pocket over a period of two years.
"Invoke spent RM11.2 million on building the capabilities and financing the campaigns of 44 parliamentary candidates and 60 state candidates for the last 2 years.
"My final responsibility is to oversee a smooth transition for these young Malaysians to (either) go back to the industry (they left) or to remain at Invoke to preserve the knowledge and capability we developed.
"Invoke will move on to focus on other missions that are in line with what we set out to do, to promote and harness grassroots volunteerism for social, economic and political empowerment," he said.
He added that Invoke was correct in predicting that Pakatan Harapan would win seven out of 11 states in the peninsula.
"Our prediction that PH would win Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Malacca and Johor were correct, as well as the prediction of a simple majority of about 120 seats (including Warisan seats)."
