Special committee formed to investigate 1MDB

PETALING JAYA: In an effort to look into matters specifically related controversial national sovereign fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), the Council of Eminent Persons have decided to form a separate five-member committee to investigate the matter.
In a statement, yesterday, the council stated in its deliberation recognises the importance of having a separate committee to look into matters relating to 1MDB.
"Until and unless the issue of 1MDB is resolved, there will be questions that undermine public confidence in the Government and its Institutions."
The 1MDB Committee comprises of five members namely former Attorney General Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman; PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) partner in Risk Assurance Services Nik Shahrizal Sulaiman; Naqiz & Partners senior partner Syed Naqiz Shahabuddin Syed Abdul Jabbar; Indonesian financial services authority senior advisor Faris Rabidin and Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism (C4) founder Cynthia Gabriel.
