KUALA LUMPUR: PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim took the opportunity to break the fast on the first day of Ramadan with about 500 supporters at his residence in Bukit Segambut Dalam here last night.
The eagerness of the supporters, of different races and background, to meet Anwar was perfectly understandable as it had been a long wait for them as Anwar was finally released from prison on Wednesday after being given the royal pardon by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V.
The evening commenced with a Maghrib prayer, followed by breaking of fast, before the congregation performed Isyak and Terawikh prayers, and ending it with the tazkirah (religious talk) from Anwar.
In his speech, Anwar reminded the supporters who were present as well as elected representatives from the Pakatan Harapan not to be arrogant with their victory in the 14th General Election.
"I believe that we will be safe if we are able to ensure that PKR and PH stay on the right track. In the end it is a question of morality.
"Do not let the victory make us ungrateful to Allah. Let's uphold justice according to the due process," he said. — Bernama
