GST: Proton offers cash rebate option

YESTERDAY, in response to the government’s statement to zero per cent-rated GST which will come into effect on June 1, Proton announced that it would give customers service vouchers that are equivalent in value to the difference between the pre- and post-GST price of all its cars.
Today, the company is enhancing the deal by offering the option of choosing between the service vouchers or a cash rebate of the same value. The offer is applicable to all Proton cars bought and
registered from May 16 to May 31 and supplements other sales promotions
“Yesterday, Proton announced an initiative to give Malaysian car buyers the benefit of paying zero rated GST prices before it comes into effect. Today, we are giving them options on how they would like to receive this benefit, either as service vouchers or a cash rebate. There is now no reason to wait until June 1 to buy a new Proton as we have delivered the savings ahead of time,” said Proton vice-president of sales and marketing, Abdul Rashid Musa.
