KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should be treated with dignity amidst the ongoing search over the past 48 hours by officials at his private residence, said chairman of the newly-formed Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) Tun Daim Zainuddin.
"Everyone should be respected and treated as a human being, especially the ex-prime minister. They (officials) should let people sleep," he told a press conference at his office here today.
He was asked to comment on the ongoing search operation which was reported (by the media), starting from the middle of the night until early morning.
He pointed out that despite the ongoing search operation, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.
"If there's a case, it will go to the next step, prosecution. This is a process for everyone, not exceptional ," said Daim.
Earlier, he met National Felda Settlers' Children Association chairman, Mazlan Aliman.
The council was also briefed by Felda's former director-general, Datuk Hanapi Suhada, Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd chairman, Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim and FELCRA Bhd CEO, Zulkarnain Md Eusope. — Bernama
