SEREMBAN: Transport Minister-designate Anthony Loke Siew Fook has assured that the 154-year-old Then Sze Temple, one of the oldest temples in Negri Sembilan, will be issued with a valid land title.
He said he would ask Negeri Sembilan Mentri Besar Aminuddin Harun to resolve the issue, soonest possible.
"This temple is not only for worship but also a tourist attraction. As Seremban MP, I will make sure that every year we will provide some allocation to preserve the temple. I will use the allocation for my constituency for the temple," he told reporters after visiting the temple here today.
Meanwhile, in another development, Loke, who is also Negeri Sembilan DAP chairman, said there would be a new Non-Muslim Affairs portfolio in the Negri Sembilan government administration.
"It was stated in our manifesto ... there are so many issues faced by (Buddhist) temples, churches and Hindu temples. This new portfolio will look into those issues," he said.
Loke said with his appointment as Transport Minister, he would withdraw himself from the state executive council.
"I have given the names (of potential candidates for the executive councillor's post) to the Mentri Besar, so let him announce it with the formation of the state executive council," said Loke, who is also Chennah state assemblyman. — Bernama
