PUTRAJAYA: Deputy Prime Minister-designate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today called on Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at a leading hotel here.
Wan Azizah, accompanied by her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is PKR de facto leader, met Lee and his wife, Ho Ching for an hour.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Wan Azizah said it was an honour to meet Lee and his wife and that it was a "good" meeting.
"The meeting also stressed on bilateral relations between Malaysia and Singapore as neighbours in the region," she told reporters after the meeting.
Earlier, Lee called on Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here, their first meeting after Dr Mahathir's return to helm the country following his Pakatan Harapan electoral victory on May 9.
Meanwhile, Anwar said it was a pleasure to meet Lee, who he had known during his days as the Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
"To me, it is a real pleasure to see and meet with Lee. Essentially we believe in stronger bilateral relationship with Singapore as Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also stressed on that," he added. — Bernama
