MyPPP leaves Barisan Nasional

PETALING JAYA: MyPPP has decided to leave Barisan Nasional and serve the government of the day, but some members are saying the move is illegal.
Party president Tan Sri M. Kayveas said the decision was made after receiving the official letter from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) yesterday, confirming that he is still the legitimate President of MyPPP.
He pointed out that this would ultimately terminate all allegations and attempts to take over power by some of the party's top leadership, which led to his dismissal last month.
"This crisis began on April 17 when I was supposed to announce that MyPPP would leave BN, but I was prevented from doing so as there were attempts to take over power," he said.
"The BN website has also erased my name as the legitimate President, contrary to ROS rules.
"Thus, MyPPP's relationship with BN has ended, while the seven top leadership of the party involved in the attempted takeover have been stripped of immediate membership," he said at a press conference at Wisma myPPP today.
However National information chief for the party Datuk V. Suresh said that Kayveas' statement is malicious and misleading.
"Tan Sri M Kayveas saying that MyPPP is leaving BN is a misleading and malicious statement made by him and his illegal members. It undermines MyPPP and it's members," he said.
He said that Kayveas is not the president and today's meeting was illegal.
"We have to abide by the rules and laws of the party and the country. We will take the necessary action to stop all illegal notices and information. In the meantime we will make necessary representations to ROS," he said.
