PUTRAJAYA: Former Petrosaudi International executive Andre Xavier Justo was spotted leaving Yayasan Perdana here today after a meeting with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who continues to operate the government from the foundation building instead of the Prime Minister's Office.
The meeting was the second between both men after Justo had posted a picture of their first meeting, yesterday on Facebook.
Having arrived at around noon, Justo left the foundation building at 2pm with US ambassador to Malaysia, Kamala Shirin Lakhdir, arriving for a formal visit with the premier at the same time.
On Aug 17, 2015, Justo was was sentenced to three years' jail by the South Bangkok Criminal Court, Thailand, for stealing 90 gigabytes of data which included emails, documents and other materials from PetroSaudi International.
His three-year jail term was cut short after he was granted two separate Royal Pardons, firstly by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in August, and subsequently by the newly-ascended King Maha Chakri Bodindradevarangkun.
The Royal Pardon he received from the late King Bhumibol enabled Justo to commute one-third of his jail term, while the one granted by King Maha Chakri entitled him for an early release.
Malaysian police had also recorded his statement in connection with the investigation into the state-owned investment firm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) in December 2015, while he was still in prison.
He drew interest in Malaysia in view of the cooperation between PetroSaudi and 1MDB.
Justo is alleged to have previously shared information on 1MDB with Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown, who arrived in the country on Friday.
The administration of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has vowed to pursue the 1MDB corruption case, making the investigation one of its top priorities.
