Court sets Oct 15 hearing for case involving death of marathon runner

KLANG: The magistrate's court here has fixed Oct 15 to 18 to hear a reckless driving case which subsequently led to the death of ultra-marathon runner Evelyn Ang.
The accused, Teoh Thiam Lim, 28, had on March 9 pleaded not guilty to an amended charge under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving before Magistrate Roslizi Sulaiman.
He was charged with driving a car in a reckless manner that could endanger others at Batu 2, Jalan Kapar, here at about 4.30am on Dec 10 last year.
Under the amended charge, he faces a jail term of between two and 10 years or a fine of between RM5,000 and RM20,000 if found guilty.
Ang who sustained a critical skull injury fell into a coma and died on March 1 without regaining consciousness.
The two others – Amiruddin Hamid and Ahmad Hadafi Jus – were injured in the incident that happened during the Klang City International Marathon 2017.
