Kevin Morais' death has nothing to do with 1MDB: MACC chief commissioner

KUALA LUMPUR: The high-profile murder of deputy public prosecutor Datuk Anthony Kevin Morais has nothing to do with the RM2.6 billion "donation", the SRC International Sdn Bhd or even the 1Malaysia Development Board (1MDB) scandal.
Instead, according to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull, the Kevin Morais' case was related to Colonel Dr Kunasegaran, the chief pathologist at the Tuanku Mizan Military Hospital, who was facing property abuse and corruption charges.
"As far as I know, Kevin Morais has nothing to do with 1MDB case ... because he was a prosecutor for the army pathologist (Colonel Dr R. Kunasegaran) cases, nothing to do with 1MDB," he told a special press conference here today.
He said this when asked to comment on whether the death of Kevin Morais was connected to the 1MDB case, especially after a photo of alleged draft charge sheet meant for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak signed by Kevin Morais gone viral on social media.
However, Mohd Shukri denied the matter.
Kevin Morais's body was found in a drum filled with concrete at Persiaran Subang Mewah, Subang Jaya, near here on Sept 16, 2015. — Bernama
