PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has urged Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull to lodge a report after the latter claimed to have his life threatened while investigating the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) in 2015.
The newly-appointed Home Minister said should there be prima facie to his claim, investigation would take place and action would be taken where necessary.
"If he felt his life was threatened, he should report to the police. If there is a report, based on standard operating procedure, obviously the police will investigate," he told his first press conference as Home Minister here today.
"Regardless the report was made by whom, even by the MACC chief, the police need to investigate and establish the facts of the case."
Muhyiddin said the result of the investigation would then be forwarded to the relevant authorities for the next course of action.
Also present at the press conference were Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun and Home Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Alwi Ibrahim.
Earlier today, Mohd Shukri had told reporters that he was harassed and threatened in 2015 while investigating the 1MDB state investment fund, and claimed that on one occasion a bullet was sent to his home.
He was then the deputy chief commissioner before his retirement two years ago.
On Mohd Shukri's claim that former IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had ordered some people to follow him when he was on a visit to the United States, Mohamad Fuzi said he would look into the matter.
"I'm not aware of what transpired then, as it happened not during my time. But we'll look into this (claim)," he said.
