PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan Johor chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today dismissed an allegation that an Umno member had been appointed as the principal private secretary of Johor Mentri Besar Osman Sapian to the unhappiness of PH grassroots members.
Muhyiddin, who is the Home Minister and Bersatu president, said the individual, Fizwan Rashidi, was not an Umno member or an ex-Umno member but a state administrative officer.
"The appointed person is the secretary-general for development in the Office of Mentri Besar and it has been the norm since my time as the mentri besar for the post to be filled by a state administrative officer.
"Osman had appointed an individual proposed by the state secretary. So, do not jump to conclusions," he said at his first press conference as the new Home Minister, here.
Muhyiddin urged PH members to scrutinise all allegations because they could have been concocted by certain quarters.
He also asked the PH grassroots members in Johor to be patient and not arrive at conclusions early on the leadership of Osman who had just been appointed to head the state administration.
"Give him the time and opportunity. I have said before that I will monitor, not interfering in the administrative affairs but monitoring to determine whether I will have to give some advice," he said.
Muhyiddin said the people should evaluate the state government administration based the action to be taken, especially in implementing the promises made in the Johor PH election manifesto.
"I have asked for the focus on the election manifesto promises, such as providing 10m³ of free water and eliminating licence fees imposed by the local authorities," he said. — Bernama
