Ringgit rebounds to open marginally higher against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit rebounded to open marginally higher against the US dollar today on renewed interest in emerging currencies, said dealers.
At 9.05am, the local note was quoted at 3.9680/9730 versus the greenback from yesterday's close of 3.9780/9820.
A dealer said investors remained concerned ahead of the release of US inflation data on May 23, that may provide more clues on the next US interest rate increase.
Meanwhile, the ringgit traded mixed against a basket of major currencies.
The ringgit fell against the Singapore dollar to 2.9619/9663 from 2.9570/9606, but versus the yen, improved to 3.5741/5796 from 3.5744/5790 yesterday.
It appreciated against the British pound to 5.3278/3365 from 5.3329/3399 and depreciated against the euro to 4.6775/6838 from 4.6722/6785. — Bernama
