100-year-old woman killed in blaze in Ranau

KOTA KINABALU: A 100-year-old woman was burnt to death when her house in Kampung Lohan Hulu, Ranau, caught fire this evening.
According to a statement from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre, the victim was known as Piah Limbongot.
In the incident, a man whose identity and his relationship with the elderly woman was not revealed, was also injured in the head.
According to the statement, Piah's remains were sent to the police for further action while the male victim was sent to the hospital for treatment.
Firefighters were informed about the incident at 2.48pm before sending two fire engines and nine officers and men to the scene.
Meanwhile, in BAGAN SERAI, an electrical wireman was electrocuted when performing wiring work in the ceiling of a house in Taman Serai Perdana here this evening.
The victim, Azman Md Noh, 43, was confirmed to have died at the scene by paramedics.
Bagai Serai Fire and Rescue Station chief Abdul Nasir Jalil said he received an emergency call at about 2.40pm before rushing to the scene with a fire engine and the Emergency Treatment Rescue Service Team. — Bernama
