PETALING JAYA: Former minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Paul Low today confirmed that current Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull had approached him for help to secure the release of his officers.
"I got back his investigative officers and I supported the investigation to go on and this team is independent.
"However, I have no power to tell how and who should be investigated," he said when contacted by theSun.
Low added that he used the appropriate way to return Shukri's officers to MACC.
He also pointed out that when the 1MDB investigation team was formed, he gave his blessings for it to proceed with the probe.
Shukri, in his first press conference as MACC chief, said he called up two then ministers, Low and his colleague Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, and told them to put a stop to the harassment of his personnel.
Meanwhile, attempts to contact Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim for comments were futile at press time as he is still in the hospital.
His condition is said to be improving after being admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital several days ago.
It was reported that Shahidan's press secretary Syed Atif Syed Abu Bakar informed that the former was admitted for cough and flu after contracting an infection that spread to his blood.
