CAMERON HIGHLANDS: Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail today announced that he would hold four portfolios in the State Executive Council for the 14th Term.
The four portfolios are the Committee on Financial Planning, Land and Natural Resources; Committee on Investment, Industrialisation and Economy; Committee on Rural Development and Orang Asli Affairs; and the Committee on Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Plantations and Biotechnology.
However, he said, this could only be temporary before the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah consented on the proposal to add two more Exco members compared to the eight members at present as allowed under the Pahang State Constitution.
"The proposal to appoint two more Exco members had been submitted to the Regent of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and if consented to by Tengku Abdullah, I will relinquish two portfolios that I am holding," he said.
Wan Rosdy said this to reporters after chairing the first Pahang Exco meeting after the 14th General Election (GE14), held at the Cameron Highlands Land and District Office, here today that was also attended by the State Secretary Datuk Seri Muhammad Safian Ismail.

He subsequently announced three new faces in the Pahang Exco line-up namely Datuk Nazri Ngah, the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Pulau Tawar who was appointed as Chairman of the Committee on Felda Affairs, Cooperatives, Entrepreneurs and Consumerism.
Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff (ADUN Bebar) was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Science, Green Technology, Communications and Multimedia while Abd Rahim Muda (ADUN Lepar) was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Housing.
Meanwhile, the Exco from the previous term who were reappointed were Lanchang Assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsuddin as Chairman of the Committee on Tourism, Environment and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Datuk Seri Shahaniza Shamsuddin (ADUN Kuala Sentul) as Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Unity, Social Welfare and Women and Family Development.

Wan Rosdy said the distribution of duties was done by taking into account the background, capability and experience especially involving reappointed Exco members.

"For example, Abd Rahim had previously served with the Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) and Mohammad Fakhruddin was an engineer. We believe their previous experience in discharging their duty could help in their task as Exco members," he added.
Wan Rosdy also reminded all the Exco members to discharge their responsibilities with full commitment and study their scope of work thoroughly to show good examples.
"I am confident they can all discharge their tasks well as they were chosen by the people in the last general election which demonstrated they had their own integrity.
"I am positive they can discharge their duty well if they were focused and disciplined in carrying out the duty entrusted to them," he added. — Bernama
