Health Advisory Council to formulate new direction in health services: Dzulkefly

PUTRAJAYA: A Health Advisory Council will be set up to help the government formulate a new direction towards empowering a world-class health ministry and improving healthcare, said newly appointed Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
He said several health prominent figures had been identified to be involved in the council that would be established within the next three months and play a role in mooting ideas.
"The council will work closely with the existing experts in the ministry in addressing any issues raised before proposing the best solutions to the government in overcoming them.
"The establishment is also in line with our commitment to ensure all levels of society enjoy the best health services, especially those from the lower income group," he told a media conference here today.
Earlier Dzulkefly received the handing over of duties documents from former Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam.
Dzulkefly said as a crucial ministry, he needed to be careful in undertaking any transformation so that any previous initiatives or agendas that had proven to benefit the people were not be disrupted.
Conceding to being impressed with the initiatives, agendas and successes undertaken by Dr Subramaniam, he said ongoing policies that benefited the people would be continued.
Meanwhile, Dzulkefly said he was committed to implement the Health Care scheme, one of the 10 pledges in Pakatan Harapan manifesto relating to health within the first 100 days after taking over as the health minister. — Bernama
