GEORGETOWN: The Penang MyPPP will remain loyal to the Barisan Nasional (BN) and rejects a move by the party president, Tan Sri M. Kayveas to leave the coalition.
Penang MyPPP vice-chairman A. Raja Segaran said Kayveas had issued various statements that were inconsistent with the party's stand.
He said the state leadership was supportive of party vice-president Datuk Maglin Dennis D'Cruz's decision to remain with the BN.
"We do not support Kayveas' stand. All members from 13 divisions and 45 branches in the state support the decision by D'Cruz who wants MyPPP to remain with, and give strong support to the BN," he told a press conference here today.
Raja Segaran also said the state leadership's stand was backed by Penang MyPPP chairman Datuk Loga Bala Mohan, who is currently attending the party's supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
Recently, Kayveas announced that MyPPP would officially cut ties with the BN with immediate effect, and would move independently as a party supporting the current government. — Bernama
