11 men fined RM1,500 each for reckless driving

SEREMBAN: Eleven men were each fined RM1,500, in default three months' jail by the Special Traffic Court here today after they pleaded guilty to driving in a rash or negligent manner and endangering others, three years ago.
Magistrate Norzaliza Tesmin imposed the fine on the 11 accused, aged between 20 and 29, after the alternative charge was read out to them separately by the court interpreter.
The men are Raja Mohd Khalid Raja Mohd Khairi, Amran Md Suhud, Asyraf Haziq Rohaizad, Mohammad Shahrul Amir Mohd Fadzli Yussof, Mohamad Sallehin Buyong, Muhammad Zharif Syazwan Norsham, Mohd Hazwan Mohd Yassin, Amirul Azrri Azmi, Wong Wai Yuan, Chan Xian Zhe and Yong Kai Seng.
The offence was committed at Jalan Persiaran Teknologi 3, Jalan Persiaran Teknologi 4 and Jalan Persiaran 5, Nilai, between 3.05am and 3.10am on May 20, 2015.
The charge, under Section 279 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to six months or a fine of not more than RM2,000, upon conviction.
The prosecution was conducted by prosecuting officer ASP M. Shanmugavell, while all the accused were unrepresented. — Bernama
