Amar Singh's service will be extended: IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will extend the service of Bukit Aman Commercial CID director Datuk Seri Amar Singh Ishar Singh following his involvement in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) investigations.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said Amar, who was scheduled to retire next month, had his contract extended by the Police Commission (SPP) for a specified period.
Mohamad Fuzi also confirmed that Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador had been appointed as the new Bukit Aman Special Branch director effective Wednesday.
"He (Abdul Hamid) is replacing Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff who has retired and had his contract terminated according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by SPP," he told a press conference after handing over of PDRM Hari Raya goodies in Bukit Aman, here today.
Meanwhile, commenting on the disclosure by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Seri Shukri Abdull on Tuesday that his safety was threatened during a previous investigation on 1MDB, Mohamad Fuzi said so far no police reports had been lodged by Mohd Shukri.
"We are aware of what he (Mohd Shukri) revealed that his security was threatened when investigating 1MDB," he said.
Mohamad Fuzi also said that police would leave it to MACC to handle the investigation in connection with the raid carried out at the house of former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
"From PDRM's perspective, we have yet to receive any indication on the case, so let MACC investigate it based on their perspective, and we are just waiting for further developments," he said.
On Wednesday, the MACC seized part of Abdul Azeez's RM500,000 cash allegedly for use for a mission to Gaza, Palestine. — Bernama
