PETALING JAYA: Billionaire Low Taek Jho, or better known as Jho Low, has been linked to 1MDB and PetroSaudi International, which are intergral parts of the 1MDB scandal.
In an exclusive report by The Star, former Petrosaudi International executive Andre Xavier Justo (pix) claimed to have met Low two times to discuss a deal involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Low has insisted that he had no involvement in 1MDB outside of the Terengganu Investment Authority.
"I met him (Low) twice. I have told the Swiss authorities the details," Justo was quoted as saying.
PSI and 1MDB entered an abortive US$2.5 billion (RM10 billion) joint venture in 2012 for which the Malaysian firm still "paid" the former US$700 million (RM2.8 billion), except that the sum went to Good Star Ltd, a firm that investigators say whose main beneficiary is Low.
In another interview with Malaysiakini, Justo denied stealing any data from his former employers and said all confessions he signed while in Thai custody were made under duress.
He said he left the company after falling out with Tarek Obaid, the PetroSaudi founder and CEO, whom Justo described was once a good friend.
"There was money all over. They were buying flats. Renting yachts. Hiring private jets. Partying," he said.
"I wasn't happy with how my relationship was with Tarek at the time. We were supposed to be friends. But some people, when they receive a lot of money, they become crazy."
He called PetroSaudi a "fake company" without proper business activities or experience, and said it had no business taking on billion-dollar deals with anyone.
